Project AlpBioEco –Valorization of innovative bioeconomical potential along biobased food and botanical extract value chain in the Alpine Space– has received funding within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), under the Alpine Space programme, which is a European transnational cooperation programme for the Alpine region providing a framework to facilitate the cooperation between economic, social and environmental key players in seven Alpine countries, as well as between various institutional levels such as: academia, administration, business and innovation sector, and policy making.
Within the AlpBioEco project, 13 partners in 5 Alpine countries work together to foster sustainability of the local economy in the Alpine Space by the valorisation of innovative bioeconomical potentials along bio-based food and botanical extract value chains (VCs). The project contributes to the framework conditions for innovation, resulting in eco-innovative business ideas & concepts for SMEs. By implementing & stimulating eco-innovations in practice, exemplarily 3 VCs are analysed (apples, walnuts and alpine herbs), while a cross-sectoral multi-level stakeholder approach is applied.
